Love Took a Holiday
The year-long romance between Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck has been going downhill for a while and the end came quietly after the new year, a number of sources have been telling me for the last few days.

Neither of their respective reps will comment, but sources are stressing that the split between the "Shakespeare in Love" co-stars was amicable.

Paltrow will soon be in Vancouver, where her father, Bruce, is getting ready to direct her in "Duets," a movie about a group of traveling karaoke singers.

Affleck is currently between jobs, but his next film, coming out in March, is a comedy co-starring Sandra Bullock as a wacky woman he meets on a plane while he's on his way to get married. The movie is called "Forces of Nature," a phrase that probably sums up the end of his relationship with Gwyneth.

Gwyn and Ben Splitsville ?
Are they or aren't they? That's the question Hollywood romance watchers are asking about the state of Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck's relationship.

According to New York Daily News columnist Mitchell Fink, the couple's yearlong affair ended quietly and amicably just after the new year. Fink says the romance "has been going downhill for a while."

Reps for both stars, who are currently appearing together in Shakespeare in Love, refused to comment.

But what to make of reports that the couple were very much together over New Year's, sharing the honeymoon suite at a tony bed and breakfast in Atlanta.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Gwyn and Ben checked in to Savannah's Gastonian Inn for New Year's weekend while in town to attend a wedding.

"On New Year's night, I found them in the Inn's kitchen making ham and cheese sandwiches from leftovers," the innkeeper tells the paper.

If rumors of the split are true, it would be Paltrow's second high-profile breakup in the last couple of years. As everyone knows, she famously split from fiancé Brad Pitt (he's since found love with Jennifer Aniston) in June of 1997. This was Affleck's first big romance since becoming a star.

Paltrow will soon be leaving the country, heading to Vancouver to shoot Duets for father Bruce. The film, about a group of traveling karaoke singers, was originally set to star Pitt, who backed out after the breakup.
